Chapter 18

1 And it came to pass1961 after many7227 days,3117 that the word1697 of the LORD3068 came1961 to413 Elijah452 in the third7992 year,8141 saying,559 Go,1980 show thyself7200 unto413 Ahab;256 and I will send5414 rain4306 upon5921 6440 the earth.127

2 And Elijah452 went1980 to show himself7200 unto413 Ahab.256 And there was a sore2389 famine7458 in Samaria.8111

3 And Ahab256 called7121 413 Obadiah,5662 which834 was the governor5921 of his house.1004 (Now Obadiah5662 feared1961 3372 853 the LORD3068 greatly: 3966

4 For it was1961 so, when Jezebel348 cut off3772 853 the prophets5030 of the LORD,3068 that Obadiah5662 took3947 a hundred3967 prophets,5030 and hid2244 them by fifty2572 376 in a cave,4631 and fed3557 them with bread3899 and water.)4325

5 And Ahab256 said559 unto413 Obadiah,5662 Go1980 into the land,776 unto413 all3605 fountains4599 of water,4325 and unto413 all3605 brooks:5158 peradventure194 we may find4672 grass2682 to save the horses and mules alive,2421 5483 6505 that we lose3772 not3808 all the beasts.4480 929

6 So they divided2505 853 the land776 between them to pass5674 throughout it: Ahab256 went1980 one259 way1870 by himself,905 and Obadiah5662 went1980 another259 way1870 by himself.905

7 And as Obadiah5662 was1961 in the way,1870 behold,2009 Elijah452 met7122 him: and he knew5234 him, and fell5307 on5921 his face,6440 and said,559 Art thou859 that2088 my lord113 Elijah?452

8 And he answered559 him, I589 am: go,1980 tell559 thy lord,113 Behold,2009 Elijah452 is here.

10 As the LORD3068 thy God430 liveth,2416 there is3426 no518 nation1471 or kingdom,4467 whither834 8033 my lord113 hath not3808 sent7971 to seek1245 thee: and when they said,559 He is not369 there; he took an oath7650 of853 the kingdom4467 and nation,1471 that3588 they found4672 thee not.3808

12 And it shall come to pass,1961 as soon as I589 am gone1980 from4480 854 thee, that the Spirit7307 of the LORD3068 shall carry5375 thee whither5921 834 I know3045 not;3808 and so when I come935 and tell5046 Ahab,256 and he cannot3808 find4672 thee, he shall slay2026 me: but I thy servant5650 fear3372 853 the LORD3068 from my youth.4480 5271

16 So Obadiah5662 went1980 to meet7122 Ahab,256 and told5046 him: and Ahab256 went1980 to meet7122 Elijah.452

17 And it came to pass,1961 when Ahab256 saw7200 853 Elijah,452 that Ahab256 said559 unto413 him, Art thou859 he that2088 troubleth5916 Israel?3478

18 And he answered,559 I have not3808 troubled5916 853 Israel;3478 but3588 518 thou,859 and thy father's1 house,1004 in that ye have forsaken5800 853 the commandments4687 of the LORD,3068 and thou hast followed1980 310 Baalim.1168

19 Now6258 therefore send,7971 and gather6908 to413 me853 all3605 Israel3478 unto413 mount2022 Carmel,3760 and the prophets5030 of Baal1168 four702 hundred3967 and fifty,2572 and the prophets5030 of the groves842 four702 hundred,3967 which eat398 at Jezebel's348 table.7979

20 So Ahab256 sent7971 unto all3605 the children1121 of Israel,3478 and gathered the prophets together6908 853 5030 unto413 mount2022 Carmel.3760

21 And Elijah452 came5066 unto413 all3605 the people,5971 and said,559 How long5704 4970 halt6452 ye859 between5921 two8147 opinions?5587 if518 the LORD3068 be God,430 follow1980 310 him: but if518 Baal,1168 then follow1980 310 him. And the people5971 answered6030 him not3808 a word.1697

22 Then said559 Elijah452 unto413 the people,5971 I,589 even I only,905 remain3498 a prophet5030 of the LORD;3068 but Baal's1168 prophets5030 are four702 hundred3967 and fifty2572 men.376

23 Let them therefore give5414 us two8147 bullocks;6499 and let them choose977 one259 bullock6499 for themselves, and cut it in pieces,5408 and lay7760 it on5921 wood,6086 and put7760 no3808 fire784 under: and I589 will dress6213 853 the other259 bullock,6499 and lay5414 it on5921 wood,6086 and put7760 no3808 fire784 under:

24 And call7121 ye on the name8034 of your gods,430 and I589 will call7121 on the name8034 of the LORD:3068 and the God430 that834 answereth6030 by fire,784 let him1931 be1961 God.430 And all3605 the people5971 answered6030 and said,559 It is well2896 spoken.1697

25 And Elijah452 said559 unto the prophets5030 of Baal,1168 Choose977 you one259 bullock6499 for yourselves, and dress6213 it first;7223 for3588 ye859 are many;7227 and call7121 on the name8034 of your gods,430 but put7760 no3808 fire784 under.

26 And they took3947 853 the bullock6499 which834 was given5414 them, and they dressed6213 it, and called7121 on the name8034 of Baal1168 from morning4480 1242 even until5704 noon,6672 saying,559 O Baal,1168 hear6030 us. But there was no369 voice,6963 nor369 any that answered.6030 And they leaped6452 upon5921 the altar4196 which834 was made.6213

27 And it came to pass1961 at noon,6672 that Elijah452 mocked2048 them, and said,559 Cry7121 aloud:6963 1419 for3588 he1931 is a god;430 either3588 he is talking,7879 or3588 he is pursuing,7873 or3588 he is in a journey,1870 or peradventure194 he1931 sleepeth,3463 and must be awaked.3364

28 And they cried7121 aloud,6963 1419 and cut themselves1413 after their manner4941 with knives2719 and lancets,7420 till5704 the blood1818 gushed out8210 upon5921 them.

29 And it came to pass,1961 when midday6672 was past,5674 and they prophesied5012 until5704 the time of the offering5927 of the evening sacrifice,4503 that there was neither369 voice,6963 nor369 any to answer,6030 nor369 any that regarded.7182

30 And Elijah452 said559 unto all3605 the people,5971 Come near5066 unto413 me. And all3605 the people5971 came near5066 unto413 him. And he repaired7495 853 the altar4196 of the LORD3068 that was broken down.2040

31 And Elijah452 took3947 twelve8147 6240 stones,68 according to the number4557 of the tribes7626 of the sons1121 of Jacob,3290 unto413 whom834 the word1697 of the LORD3068 came,1961 saying,559 Israel3478 shall be1961 thy name: 8034

32 And with854 the stones68 he built1129 an altar4196 in the name8034 of the LORD:3068 and he made6213 a trench8585 about5439 the altar,4196 as great as would contain1004 two measures5429 of seed.2233

33 And he put6186 853 the wood6086 in order, and cut5408 853 the bullock6499 in pieces, and laid7760 him on5921 the wood,6086 and said,559 Fill4390 four702 barrels3537 with water,4325 and pour3332 it on5921 the burnt sacrifice,5930 and on5921 the wood.6086

34 And he said,559 Do it the second time.8138 And they did it the second time.8138 And he said,559 Do it the third time.8027 And they did it the third time.8027

36 And it came to pass1961 at the time of the offering5927 of the evening sacrifice,4503 that Elijah452 the prophet5030 came near,5066 and said,559 LORD3068 God430 of Abraham,85 Isaac,3327 and of Israel,3478 let it be known3045 this day3117 that3588 thou859 art God430 in Israel,3478 and that I589 am thy servant,5650 and that I have done6213 853 all3605 these428 things1697 at thy word.1697

37 Hear6030 me, O LORD,3068 hear6030 me, that this2088 people5971 may know3045 that3588 thou859 art the LORD3068 God,430 and that thou859 hast turned5437 853 their heart3820 back again.322

38 Then the fire784 of the LORD3068 fell,5307 and consumed398 853 the burnt sacrifice,5930 and the wood,6086 and the stones,68 and the dust,6083 and licked up3897 the water4325 that834 was in the trench.8585

39 And when all3605 the people5971 saw7200 it, they fell5307 on5921 their faces:6440 and they said,559 The LORD,3068 he1931 is the God;430 the LORD,3068 he1931 is the God.430

40 And Elijah452 said559 unto them, Take8610 853 the prophets5030 of Baal;1168 let not408 one376 of them4480 escape.4422 And they took8610 them: and Elijah452 brought them down3381 to413 the brook5158 Kishon,7028 and slew7819 them there.8033

41 And Elijah452 said559 unto Ahab,256 Get thee up,5927 eat398 and drink;8354 for3588 there is a sound6963 of abundance1995 of rain.1653

42 So Ahab256 went up5927 to eat398 and to drink.8354 And Elijah452 went up5927 to413 the top7218 of Carmel;3760 and he cast himself down1457 upon the earth,776 and put7760 his face6440 between996 his knees,1290

43 And said559 to413 his servant,5288 Go up5927 now,4994 look5027 toward1870 the sea.3220 And he went up,5927 and looked,5027 and said,559 There is nothing.369 3972 And he said,559 Go again7725 seven7651 times.6471

11 А ты теперь посылаешь меня к моему господину сказать: „Илия здесь”.

24 Тогда вы помолитесь вашему богу, а я помолюсь Господу. Тот бог, который ответит на молитву и пошлёт огонь на дрова, и есть истинный Бог». И весь народ согласился.

25 Илия сказал пророкам Ваала: «Вас много, поэтому сначала вы выберите себе одного быка и приготовьте его. Молитесь своему богу, но огня не подкладывайте».

26 Пророки взяли быка, которого им дали, и приготовили его. Они молились Ваалу с утра до полудня. Они кричали: «О, Ваал, ответь нам!» Но никто не ответил. Пророки плясали вокруг алтаря, который они построили, но огонь не зажёгся.

15 And Elijah452 said,559 As the LORD3068 of hosts6635 liveth,2416 before6440 whom834 I stand,5975 I will surely3588 show myself7200 unto413 him today.3117

16 So Obadiah5662 went1980 to meet7122 Ahab,256 and told5046 him: and Ahab256 went1980 to meet7122 Elijah.452

16 Авдий пошёл навстречу Ахаву и сказал ему, где находится Илия. И Ахав пошёл навстречу Илии.

17 And it came to pass,1961 when Ahab256 saw7200 853 Elijah,452 that Ahab256 said559 unto413 him, Art thou859 he that2088 troubleth5916 Israel?3478

17 Когда Ахав увидел Илию, он сказал ему: «Ты ли это? Ты — человек, который навлёк беду на Израиль!»

18 And he answered,559 I have not3808 troubled5916 853 Israel;3478 but3588 518 thou,859 and thy father's1 house,1004 in that ye have forsaken5800 853 the commandments4687 of the LORD,3068 and thou hast followed1980 310 Baalim.1168

18 Илия ответил: «Не я навлёк беду на Израиль, а ты и семья твоего отца. Вы перестали подчиняться приказаниям Господа и стали следовать лжебогам.

19 Now6258 therefore send,7971 and gather6908 to413 me853 all3605 Israel3478 unto413 mount2022 Carmel,3760 and the prophets5030 of Baal1168 four702 hundred3967 and fifty,2572 and the prophets5030 of the groves842 four702 hundred,3967 which eat398 at Jezebel's348 table.7979

19 Теперь собери ко мне весь Израиль на гору Кармел. И приведи четыреста пятьдесят пророков Ваала и четыреста пророков Ашеры, которых поддерживает Иезавель».

20 So Ahab256 sent7971 unto all3605 the children1121 of Israel,3478 and gathered the prophets together6908 853 5030 unto413 mount2022 Carmel.3760

21 And Elijah452 came5066 unto413 all3605 the people,5971 and said,559 How long5704 4970 halt6452 ye859 between5921 two8147 opinions?5587 if518 the LORD3068 be God,430 follow1980 310 him: but if518 Baal,1168 then follow1980 310 him. And the people5971 answered6030 him not3808 a word.1697

21 Илия вышел перед всем народом и сказал: «Когда же вы, люди, решите, за кем вам следовать? Если Господь — истинный Бог, то следуйте Ему. А если Ваал — истинный Бог, то следуйте ему». Но народ ничего ему не ответил.

22 Then said559 Elijah452 unto413 the people,5971 I,589 even I only,905 remain3498 a prophet5030 of the LORD;3068 but Baal's1168 prophets5030 are four702 hundred3967 and fifty2572 men.376

22 Тогда Илия сказал людям: «Я один остался из пророков Господа, а у Ваала — четыреста пятьдесят пророков.

23 Let them therefore give5414 us two8147 bullocks;6499 and let them choose977 one259 bullock6499 for themselves, and cut it in pieces,5408 and lay7760 it on5921 wood,6086 and put7760 no3808 fire784 under: and I589 will dress6213 853 the other259 bullock,6499 and lay5414 it on5921 wood,6086 and put7760 no3808 fire784 under:

23 Приведите нам двух быков. Пусть они выберут себе одного быка, рассекут его и положат на дрова, но не поджигают. Я приготовлю другого быка и положу на дрова, но не подожгу.

24 And call7121 ye on the name8034 of your gods,430 and I589 will call7121 on the name8034 of the LORD:3068 and the God430 that834 answereth6030 by fire,784 let him1931 be1961 God.430 And all3605 the people5971 answered6030 and said,559 It is well2896 spoken.1697

24 Тогда вы помолитесь вашему богу, а я помолюсь Господу. Тот бог, который ответит на молитву и пошлёт огонь на дрова, и есть истинный Бог». И весь народ согласился.

25 And Elijah452 said559 unto the prophets5030 of Baal,1168 Choose977 you one259 bullock6499 for yourselves, and dress6213 it first;7223 for3588 ye859 are many;7227 and call7121 on the name8034 of your gods,430 but put7760 no3808 fire784 under.

25 Илия сказал пророкам Ваала: «Вас много, поэтому сначала вы выберите себе одного быка и приготовьте его. Молитесь своему богу, но огня не подкладывайте».

26 And they took3947 853 the bullock6499 which834 was given5414 them, and they dressed6213 it, and called7121 on the name8034 of Baal1168 from morning4480 1242 even until5704 noon,6672 saying,559 O Baal,1168 hear6030 us. But there was no369 voice,6963 nor369 any that answered.6030 And they leaped6452 upon5921 the altar4196 which834 was made.6213

27 В полдень Илия стал смеяться над пророками, говоря: «Если Ваал действительно бог, то вам следует громче молиться! Может быть, он занят или пошёл по своим делам, или в дороге. Может быть, он спит и его нужно разбудить».

28 And they cried7121 aloud,6963 1419 and cut themselves1413 after their manner4941 with knives2719 and lancets,7420 till5704 the blood1818 gushed out8210 upon5921 them.

29 And it came to pass,1961 when midday6672 was past,5674 and they prophesied5012 until5704 the time of the offering5927 of the evening sacrifice,4503 that there was neither369 voice,6963 nor369 any to answer,6030 nor369 any that regarded.7182

30 And Elijah452 said559 unto all3605 the people,5971 Come near5066 unto413 me. And all3605 the people5971 came near5066 unto413 him. And he repaired7495 853 the altar4196 of the LORD3068 that was broken down.2040

31 Илия взял двенадцать камней, по числу колен, происшедших от Иакова, которому Господь сказал: «Имя твоё будет — Израиль».

32 And with854 the stones68 he built1129 an altar4196 in the name8034 of the LORD:3068 and he made6213 a trench8585 about5439 the altar,4196 as great as would contain1004 two measures5429 of seed.2233

32 Из камней он построил алтарь в честь Господа, а вокруг алтаря сделал ров вместимостью в 2 саты зёрен.

33 And he put6186 853 the wood6086 in order, and cut5408 853 the bullock6499 in pieces, and laid7760 him on5921 the wood,6086 and said,559 Fill4390 four702 barrels3537 with water,4325 and pour3332 it on5921 the burnt sacrifice,5930 and on5921 the wood.6086

33 Он разложил дрова, рассёк быка и положил его на дрова.

34 And he said,559 Do it the second time.8138 And they did it the second time.8138 And he said,559 Do it the third time.8027 And they did it the third time.8027

36 And it came to pass1961 at the time of the offering5927 of the evening sacrifice,4503 that Elijah452 the prophet5030 came near,5066 and said,559 LORD3068 God430 of Abraham,85 Isaac,3327 and of Israel,3478 let it be known3045 this day3117 that3588 thou859 art God430 in Israel,3478 and that I589 am thy servant,5650 and that I have done6213 853 all3605 these428 things1697 at thy word.1697

36 Было время вечернего жертвоприношения. Пророк Илия подошёл к алтарю и сказал: «О, Господи, Бог Авраама, Исаака и Иакова, я прошу Тебя, докажи сейчас, что Ты — Бог Израиля. И докажи, что я Твой слуга и что Ты приказал мне сделать всё это.

37 Hear6030 me, O LORD,3068 hear6030 me, that this2088 people5971 may know3045 that3588 thou859 art the LORD3068 God,430 and that thou859 hast turned5437 853 their heart3820 back again.322

37 Господи, ответь молитве моей, чтобы люди узнали, что Ты, Господи, — Бог. Тогда люди будут знать, что Ты снова возвращаешь их к себе».

38 Then the fire784 of the LORD3068 fell,5307 and consumed398 853 the burnt sacrifice,5930 and the wood,6086 and the stones,68 and the dust,6083 and licked up3897 the water4325 that834 was in the trench.8585

38 И ниспослал Господь огонь. Огонь сжёг жертву, дрова, камни и землю вокруг алтаря. Он также высушил всю воду во рву.

39 And when all3605 the people5971 saw7200 it, they fell5307 on5921 their faces:6440 and they said,559 The LORD,3068 he1931 is the God;430 the LORD,3068 he1931 is the God.430

39 Когда люди увидели всё это, они упали на землю и воскликнули: «Господь есть Бог! Господь есть Бог!»

40 And Elijah452 said559 unto them, Take8610 853 the prophets5030 of Baal;1168 let not408 one376 of them4480 escape.4422 And they took8610 them: and Elijah452 brought them down3381 to413 the brook5158 Kishon,7028 and slew7819 them there.8033

40 Тогда Илия приказал им: «Схватите пророков Ваала! Не дайте ни одному из них скрыться!» И люди схватили их. Затем Илия отвёл их к потоку Киссон и убил их там.

41 And Elijah452 said559 unto Ahab,256 Get thee up,5927 eat398 and drink;8354 for3588 there is a sound6963 of abundance1995 of rain.1653

42 Ахав пошёл есть и пить. Илия же поднялся на вершину горы Кармел, наклонился к земле и положил голову между колен.

43 And said559 to413 his servant,5288 Go up5927 now,4994 look5027 toward1870 the sea.3220 And he went up,5927 and looked,5027 and said,559 There is nothing.369 3972 And he said,559 Go again7725 seven7651 times.6471

43 Затем он сказал своему слуге: «Пойди и посмотри в сторону моря». Слуга пошёл, посмотрел и сказал: «Я ничего не вижу». Илия послал его посмотреть ещё раз. Это повторилось семь раз.

44 And it came to pass1961 at the seventh time,7637 that he said,559 Behold,2009 there ariseth5927 a little6996 cloud5645 out of the sea,4480 3220 like a man's376 hand.3709 And he said,559 Go up,5927 say559 unto413 Ahab,256 Prepare631 thy chariot, and get thee down,3381 that the rain1653 stop6113 thee not.3808

44 На седьмой раз слуга вернулся и сказал: «Я вижу маленькое облако, величиной в человеческую ладонь. Оно поднимается от моря». Илия сказал слуге: «Иди к царю Ахаву и скажи ему: „Запряги свою колесницу и поезжай домой. Если ты сейчас не уедешь, дождь помешает тебе”».

45 And it came to pass1961 in the meanwhile,5704 3541 5704 3541 that the heaven8064 was black6937 with clouds5645 and wind,7307 and there was1961 a great1419 rain.1653 And Ahab256 rode,7392 and went1980 to Jezreel.3157

45 Между тем небо покрылось тёмными тучами. Подул ветер, и полил сильный дождь. Ахав сел в свою колесницу и отправился обратно в Изреель.

46 And the hand3027 of the LORD3068 was1961 on413 Elijah;452 and he girded up8151 his loins,4975 and ran7323 before6440 Ahab256 to5704 the entrance935 of Jezreel.3157

46 Сила Господа сошла на Илию. Он подвязал свою одежду, чтобы легче было бежать, и бежал перед царём Ахавом всю дорогу до Изрееля.
